Cap’n Crunch French Toast

I am sure the title of this post resulted in one of the following:

A.  skepticism and a raised eyebrow

B.  your curiosity became insatiable

What a combo right? I mean, how could somebody even think of this?!! This cereal is one of life’s greatest blessings. It is also one of the most annoying cereals because it scratches the roof of my mouth like a cat on your face….but I digress.

We don’t get to watch tv much and when we go visit the ‘rents I cannot get enough of Food Network. I could definitely sit and watch that channel alllll day. One night the hubs and I were watching Triple D and came across some restaurant that made Cap’n Crunch French Toast. Joseph’s reaction alone told me that he wanted to make this dish as soon as possible. He told me that the combination was meant to be….like Cinderella and Prince Charming.

Let’s get on with this process before the clock strikes midnight, shall we?

Now, this recipe is a lot of eyeballing so however much you are making depends on the number of mouths you are feeding.

a little vanilla extract

Cap’n Crunch cereal (get the kind that doesn’t have the berries)

This is exactly like the normal french toast recipe but with an added step.

In the first bowl I combined the eggs, cinnamon, and vanilla. The second bowl is the crushed up cereal. Make sure you crush up the cereal as much as possible. The more crushed, the better. Dip the bread into the egg mixture and then into the cereal.

You can see that we should have crushed it up a bit more. Heat the pan with a little oil and then add the bread. Make sure the pan does not get too hot because the cereal could burn pretty quickly. It almost happened to us!

This was short and sweet because this was a very quick and easy breakfast. We added a little syrup on top and enjoyed a lovely meal :-) I hope all of you enjoy it as well!
